Why annual kWh matters
A dollar bill alone can mislead because utility rates and fees change. Enter the annual kWh from twelve months of bills when possible. Tower uses that figure to size toward a target offset rather than assuming every home needs the same system.
Pennsylvania roof realities
Tree cover, roof orientation, winter production, snow, older electrical service, and roof age can materially affect design and cost. The satellite roof image is a starting point; a contractor must verify usable area, structure, setbacks, and electrical conditions.
Net metering and utility approval
Pennsylvania customer-generators may be eligible for net metering under state and utility requirements. Eligibility, sizing, credits, interconnection steps, and annual reconciliation must be confirmed with the serving utility for the specific project.
Compare total cost
Request both the cash price and the financed amount. Long loan terms can make a payment look attractive while increasing total cost. Compare system price per watt, dealer fees, APR, term, equipment, production assumptions, and warranties together.
Philadelphia permits and PECO are separate steps
Philadelphia requires an electrical permit for solar. Projects meeting every current EZ solar standard may avoid a separate building permit; other projects need additional review. The City instructs applicants to submit a PECO interconnection application before applying for permits. Use the official City instructions and the PECO portal, and have your contractor confirm the route for your property.
Bucks County is not one permit office
Use the municipality serving the installation address. Confirm building and electrical permits, inspection responsibility, roof and structural requirements, and utility interconnection with your contractor before ordering equipment. Philadelphia rules do not automatically apply across Bucks County.
